Best Launch
A question that often arises: How to best launch a manual gearbox Callaway Corvette? Answer: Judiciously! Start at about 1500 RPM. That’s right, 1500! We’ve found that this is approximately the right rpm for a successful launch. Just try not to overpower the tires. Shift to 2nd a few tenths before you see the 6400 RPM point. Shoot for a 1.6 second sixty-foot time.
Alternately, use Launch Control…

Camaro – Rear Springs
Symptom: apparent oil on rear shock body, spring perch, control arm. At first, this looks like a leaking rear shock. However, in the examples we have seen here, the oil is an installation lubricant for the isolation sleeve that surrounds the spring. Clean the area and continue to observe.

Fuse Holder Faulty – 2007 Callaway Corvette
The fused circuit that supplies power to the Magnavolt fuel pump controller is prone to a failure of the early style fuse holder. The symptom is intermittent operation of the fuel pump. These original-style fuse holders should be replaced by the updated version with the WeatherPak-style connector. Contact Callaway Technical Service for replacement parts.
Alternator Pulley
The alternator pulley nut is secured with Loctite 290 wicking type threadlocker. It is worthwhile to check its tightness periodically. For maintenance and repair, use a new locknut each time the alternator pulley is re-installed. Loctite per standard procedure.
DO NOT RECALIBRATE ECM
The program that controls the engine management system in your Callaway is special and unique to your vehicle configuration. It was installed into your Electronic Control Module (ECM) by recalibrating the ROM (read-only-memory) at Callaway.
The Callaway version of the software, or calibration as it is known, is the only one your car or truck can use. The problem comes when the ECM is inadvertently recalibrated at the Chevrolet dealership during normal maintenance. The GM service department recalibrates ECM’s on all GM cars as a standard part of update maintenance. Your responsibility as a Callaway owner is to not let this happen.
Even though Callaway Authorized Dealerships know this, it is highly recommended that you remind the technician or service advisor when you drop off your vehicle. If the ECM is recalibrated using the standard GM calibration, the car will not run well, and if driven in this condition, serious engine damage may occur. Chevrolet dealers cannot install the Callaway calibration. The ECM must be returned to Callaway to be recalibrated.
In order to make this clear, there is a warning on the cover of the port that accesses the ECM. It clearly states: DO NOT RECALIBRATE!
Between this warning and your knowledge of this situation, we hope that you will guard against this misstep.
Should this error occur, the ECM can be overnighted to Callaway Cars, and we will recalibrate the ECM at no charge other than shipping. Please call Callaway Technical Service in advance for confirmation (860 434 9002).
Driving Tip – Callaway Corvette with 6 Speed paddle shift transmission
Owners of automatic transmission equipped Callaway Corvettes should implement this technique as a standard part of their driving routine.
Perhaps you’ve discovered this already, but if not, try this the next time you drive your car:
Put the car into paddle shift mode.
To do this, simply select “S” on the gearshift and initiate one paddle shift event at the beginning of every drive cycle.
This forces the gearbox to remain in the selected gear even when full throttle is used.
As the primary driver, you probably already know that a sudden full-throttle application, while in the full automatic mode, will incur a downshift, and sometimes a ‘double downshift’. This results in too much power and an unpleasant drive. Putting the car into paddle shift mode prevents the downshift altogether.
It’s better to have the car stay in the selected gear, and use the boost from the supercharger to feed in the power with your throttle foot, as you wish; not as the gearbox wishes.
All potential drivers of the car should also be informed: especially the driver new to the car.
How does the Callaway Warranty work?
The Callaway Warranty is provided as standard equipment and covers all of the Callaway-installed components and most GM original equipment powertrain components. The term of the Warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. A optional 5 year/100,000 mile Callaway Powertrain Service Contract is also available. Contact your Callaway Authorized Dealer for additional details.
Can I delete the Callaway badges?
Yes, you can “Option Delete” trim and certain accessories. However, there is no price reduction. Our production and pricing is planned around a certain volume. Callaway cars and trucks are engineered with components that work together; we do not modify the specification for individual vehicles. And badges and identifiers are not supplied separately. This helps defeat counterfeiting and preserves the value of the marque.
Can I use my own exhaust system?
Callaway mechanical components cannot be substituted in authentic Callaway packages. We can use only Callaway Exhaust systems. The components are tested, validated and certified in this configuration. Additionally, these components are the only ones that will produce the stated power. And the engine calibration is specifically for the complete Callaway package.
Where can I buy a Callaway Corvette, Camaro or SportTruck?
Callaway Cars Inc. has established Callaway Authorized Dealers in the most active market regions in the US and Canada. Please refer to our Callaway Authorized Dealer list.
No dealer in your area? Call us at 860 434 9002 and speak to a Callaway Specialist. We can procure new cars on your behalf from a Callaway Authorized Dealer.
Take new car delivery at either Callaway Factory or ask your Dealer to arrange transport. Optionally, take delivery of your Callaway Corvette at the National Corvette Museum (with RPO R8C).
I am planning to buy a new Corvette (or Camaro, or Chevy Truck). How do I make it a Callaway?
Very easily. Call Callaway Cars, 860 434 9002. Speak to a Callaway Specialist about the details of your order. You will be directed to an Authorized Callaway Dealer for a test drive. When you order your new car, the dealer will specify the Callaway drop ship code. Then your new car or truck will be built at Chevrolet’s assembly plant and shipped on a GM transporter to Callaway Cars’ Connecticut or California plant. You will make all of your purchase arrangements (including financing) with your local Authorized Callaway Dealer.
On completion, you may choose to take delivery at your dealer or at a Callaway Factory in Connecticut or California. If you’ve purchased a Callaway Corvette, you may also elect to pick up your car at the National Corvette Museum via the RPO R8C National Corvette Museum Delivery Option.
Do I have to ship my car (or truck) to California or Connecticut?
Genuine Callaway vehicles are built in Old Lyme Connecticut and Santa Ana California. These new cars and trucks are shipped to Callaway Authorized Chevrolet Dealers for sale. Alternatively, currently-owned cars that are not in an area serviced by a Callaway Dealer can be shipped to either Callaway facility for conversion.
We have transport arrangements made through Plycon Transportation, as their owners are also Callaway owners. Some owners choose to pick up their new Callaway cars and trucks at the National Corvette Museum or either Callaway factory and make the exciting drive home.
Do I have to use the Callaway Corvette hood?
The Callaway Corvette hood design is an integral part of the Callaway Corvette package, differentiating the Callaway Corvette from tuner-built supercharged Corvettes and providing clearance and cooling for the supercharger. If you want a Callaway Corvette, you have to use either the standard carbon hood bulge or optional C16 hood.
Some folks, initially, have said they want a different solution. Then they come to the factory or visit a dealership and see the look and quality in person. No one to date has rejected our advice.
What are my choices for the hood bulge color?
The Callaway Corvette carbon fiber hood bulge is a clear-coated, over a natural finish carbon fiber. Contrasting colors may be provided at extra cost. If the optional one-piece C16 hood is selected, Cyber Gray Metallic is used as the standard contrasting color, with Machine Silver used for Cyber Gray Corvettes. We provide customer-selected accent colors on C16 hoods as an extra-cost option as well, but we reserve the right to decline certain color combinations.
How do folks like their Callaway Corvettes?
Please see the testimonials page. We think you will get the message, especially with comments like, “Best money I ever spent…” and many other truly heartwarming comments.

I recently acquired a 2007 Corvette with the Calloway conversion. I have no information regarding maintenance/care, and would like to know what routine or periodic maintenance is required for the supercharger and aftercooler. Kindly advise. Thank you.
Sorry for the delay getting back to you, Fred.
The only maintenance required for the 2007 Callaway Corvette supercharger is as follows:
Supercharger Drive Belts: Check front and rear supercharger drive belts for fraying, cracks or obvious damage at each oil change. Replace as necessary.
Front – Callaway P/N 289.60.0251 (Gates K061045)
Rear – Callaway P/N 289.65.0260 (Gates K080220)
Supercharger Oil: The Callaway Corvette supercharger contains its own supply of oil for bearing lubrication. We recommend that your Callaway Authorized Dealer change the supercharger oil at 100,000 mile intervals.
For the intercooler system:
Intercooler Coolant: GM DEX-COOL only. 50/50 mixture with distilled water. Coolant change
interval is 5 years or 50,000 miles (80,000 km), whichever comes first.
I enjoy the Callaway conversions and am looking for a Sport truck type vehicle, but I am looking for something like an elite driving vehicle with lots of class. I currently own a GMC 2500 Denali with the 6.2v8 and it’s AWD too. Can you do the conversion on this type of vehicle? How about a larger crate motor like the Yukon’s 8.1L v8? I know from past experience with GM and their issues with the fuel tank and gauge, could you do like a custom fuel cell as well? I haven’t had any issues with my Denali yet. Do you offer any extended warranties after 100k? With this conversion can I run VP100 in the vehicle? I usually run it in my Denali for better gas mileage. Thanks.
