Both Callaway drivers start on the Pole and win both races; Callaway now leads both Teams’ and Drivers’ Championship Points Standings.
This weekend, in the picturesque town of Spielberg, Austria, Callaway Competition completely dominated the ADAC GT Masters’ Red Bull Ring event. Corvette drivers, Marvin Kirchhöfer and Daniel Keilwitz, enjoyed a spectacular outing, each capturing Pole Position for the Saturday and Sunday races and then winning both races. Saturday’s Race 1 was Kirchhöfer’s first ADAC GT Masters victory while, on Sunday, Keilwitz got his 8th career Red Bull Ring win in a mostly-rainy Race 2, finishing 4.2 seconds ahead of a charging, second-place Lamborghini Huracán GT3.
Following this weekend’s performance, Kirchhöfer and Keilwitz have a 24 point advantage over second place in Drivers’ Championship standings, and Callaway Competition is 12 points ahead of second place in the Teams’ Championship race.
The next race weekend on the ADAC GT Masters circuit is scheduled for August 3-5, at the Nürburgring in Nürburg, Germany. The time-honored racetrack is considered to be Callaway Competition’s “home-track”, but they’ll have to bring their A-game as, once more, they’ll be competing with the world’s fastest GT3 race cars: Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Honda NSX, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.
Marvin Kirchhöfer: “We weren’t expecting to win twice. I’m all the more delighted now that we’ve achieved that. It was a perfect weekend for us, with a maximum points yield. Next on the itinerary are some tracks where it’s going to be harder for us to compete at the front.”
