FAQ’s

How does one buy a Callaway CTS-V?
The retail buyer purchases the new Callaway CTS-V from his local Cadillac dealer. The entire transaction, including financing, is between the retail buyer and the new car dealer. Before the purchase, prospective buyers typically contact Callaway Cars to discuss their ordering preferences, Callaway options, etc. Then, the Callaway specialist will ask the prospect’s local Chevrolet dealer to contact the prospect, presenting their closest match or to discuss a new order. Callaway produces all Callaway CTS-V’s in their California and Connecticut factories. The buyer typically takes delivery of the Callaway CTS-V at the Cadillac dealership. However, the buyer may choose to take delivery at one of Callaway’s factories, in Connecticut or in California, or arrange to have the car shipped directly to his or her home.

Do CTS-V’s have to be shipped to California or Connecticut for conversion?
Callaway CTS-V are built by expert technicians at Callaway’s California and Connecticut factories. After assembly, they are shipped to Cadillac dealers for retail delivery. Callaway CTS-V’s may also be shipped directly to the vehicle’s retail purchaser. We have preferred freight arrangements through our enclosed transportation partner.

What happens to the stock parts that Callaway removes from CTS-V’s?
Callaway sells the “take-off parts” in bulk to specialty parts distributors. Cadillac Dealers prefer not to handle these parts. Callaway MSRP has been established assuming that the take-off parts would not be returned to the dealer or retail purchaser.

If someone already owns a CTS-V, can they still make it a Callaway?
There are certain criteria that used CTS-V’s must meet in order to be considered for conversion to Callaway. First, the car must be of the current or previous model year and completely stock, just like it rolled off the assembly line. Second, the car must be completely free from any damage or defects. Third, while there is no specific odometer reading limitation, the car must be as-new mechanically. That means, at Callaway’s discretion, testing may be required (at the owner’s expense) to determine the condition of the car’s engine before proceeding with conversion work.

How does Callaway develop its horsepower rating? Engine dyno or rear wheel?
To establish advertised power ratings, peak horsepower and torque are recorded during final testing of Callaway’s production prototype packages in the SuperFlow engine dynamometer cell at Callaway’s Connecticut facility. This testing is performed using the same processes and data correction procedures as used by GM, per SAE specification. Consequently, Callaway horsepower and torque can be compared directly power ratings advertised by GM or other manufacturers.

How does the Callaway Warranty work?
The Callaway Limited Warranty is provided as standard equipment and covers all of the Callaway-installed components and most GM original equipment powertrain components. If the problem is powertrain-related, Callaway works with the GM Dealer to determine the root cause. If the powertrain-related problem was caused by a defective GM component, and the affected components are covered by the GM powertrain warranty, then GM reimburses the dealership. If the problem was caused by a Callaway product defect and the affected components are covered by the Callaway warranty, then Callaway reimburses the dealership. In all cases, the car’s owner is never involved with the root cause determination or warranty reimbursement process.

Which powertrain parts are covered and which are not under the Callaway Limited Warranty and the Callaway Powertrain Service Contract?
Most powertrain parts are covered by either GM or Callaway. Powertrain parts that are not covered by Callaway are listed in the Limited Warranty and Extended Powertrain Service Contract documents. Is the GM warranty voided when someone buys a Callaway?
No, the GM warranty is not voided. GM and Callaway share warranty information on a regular basis.

How long are Callaway cars covered under the Callaway Limited Warranty?
The term of the Callaway Warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. An optional 5 year/60,000 mile Callaway Powertrain Service Contract is also available.

Does the Callaway CTS-V have to go back to a Callaway factory for warranty or service?
Service and warranty repairs should be performed by the local Authorized Callaway Dealer. These Dealers employ specially trained staff. However, we realize that returning to an Authorized Callaway Dealer may not be possible or practical. Consequently, Callaway CTS-V’s may be brought to any Cadillac dealer for maintenance or service. Most maintenance and service is performed as per General Motors’ prescribed original equipment procedures. However, when bringing a Callaway CTS-V to a “non-authorized” dealer, we recommend instructing the Service Writer to contact Callaway Technical Service before any diagnostics, service or repair is performed. Then Callaway will be able to supply the dealer with technical assistance, replacement parts, and warranty reimbursement (if applicable).

Can owners do their own oil changes and other maintenance?
Yes. Callaway does not restrict owners from performing their own maintenance. However, all Callaway Limited Warranty and Extended Powertrain Service Contract repairs must be performed by GM dealerships. If owners perform their own maintenance and a warranty-related issue should arise, they may be asked to provide receipts and other maintenance records. The use of GM-approved oils, fluids, and service parts is required. We recommend following the severe service schedule for maintenance provided in the Chevrolet owners manual.

If headers are installed, or if the supercharger is modified, or if the ECM is re-tuned, is the Callaway Limited Warranty or Extended Powertrain Service Contract void?
Yes, if any modifications are made which defeat or tamper with electronic engine management system or vehicle emissions systems, or components or programming are added that affect Callaway product specifications are modified or added, the Callaway Limited Warranty and Extended Powertrain Service Contract become null and void.

When does the term of the Callaway Extended Powertrain Service Contract start and end?
The start date of the Powertrain Service Contract is the Cadillac CTS-V’s in-service date. The start mileage is the odometer reading indicated at delivery. The Callaway Powertrain Service Contract expires on the same day of the sixtieth month after the in-service date, or the in-service mileage plus 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

Is the Callaway Extended Powertrain Service Contract transferable?
Yes, the Extended Powertrain Service Contract is transferable to subsequent owners by applying to Callaway for assignment within thirty (30) days of change in ownership. Transfer fee, transfer form and complete procedure are available from Callaway upon request. Callaway will recognize the owner of record in the GM vehicle data system as the owner entitled to Service Contract benefits. If the Extended Powertrain Service Contract has been transferred, the GM owner of record data must match the assignee data on file at Callaway.
