Jay Leno’s Garage – Callaway AeroWagen™

Jay Leno’s Garage Spotlights
Callaway Corvette AeroWagen!

Since retiring from his highly successful late-night TV show in 2014, comedian Jay Leno has turned his attention to one of his grand passions: collecting unique cars. His YouTube series, Jay Leno’s Garage,” chronicles his reviews and road tests of some very special automobiles and the stories behind them.

In his latest YouTube video, Jay took the time to check out Callaway Cars’ new product offering, the Callaway AeroWagen™. This package happened to be installed on a new 757 horsepower Callaway SC757 Z06, a car with breathtaking performance. The 31 minute video details AeroWagen features, shows Jay’s conversations with Pete and Reeves Callaway to get the inside story on the new shooting brake and features Jay’s “spirited test drive”, with Pete in the passenger seat.

Here’s the Jay Leno’s Garage video:

Callaway offers the Deutschman-designed AeroWagen for any version of the C7 Corvette Coupe. Its carbon fiber components are manufactured by Callaway Carbon and packages fit all standard production C7 Corvettes, the Callaway SC627 Stingray or Grand Sport, or the Callaway SC757 Z06. The AeroWagen hatch assembly is a direct, part-for-part replacement of the original equipment Corvette rear hatch, using the original factory hardware, seals and latching mechanisms. Its exterior surface is painted to match the Corvette’s OEM body color and new hatch operates just like the OEM hatch, including the rear windscreen defogger. Interior components and targa top aren’t affected.

“Cargo capacity is increased slightly, overall weight is barely one pound more and drag coefficient is reduced over stock slightly. However, improving these features was not a design goal,” explains Callaway Cars founder/CEO Reeves Callaway. “The clear objective was to make an elegant design statement and to personalize the design, at a reasonable cost, and no penalty.”

Callaway AeroWagen™ packages are available from Callaway-authorized Chevrolet dealers across North America. Please contact our factory staff for more information, including how to purchase your own AeroWagen, at (860) 434-9002.

AeroWagen Unveiling at the Bash

Meet the Callaway Team at the Michelin NCM Bash, April 27-29, for the public unveiling of the Callaway AeroWagen™.

We’ll be on hand to answer all your AeroWagen questions, as well as displaying Callaway’s supercharged 757 horsepower SC757 package.

“The AeroWagen is a perfect project for us,” says Callaway Cars founder/CEO Reeves Callaway. “It is unique in the market. It is a clever and effective re-style: changing the look of the car dramatically by just replacing one component. Functions perfectly. Easy to install. And has a coach-built result at a production price.

Reeves continues, “We looked at historical attempts at adding hatches to coupés. Of these shooting brake conversions, some were elegant, and some, odd. As it happens, the C7 design is a natural platform for the shooting brake approach. The luggage space in the car is already best in class. But now we can carry three full-size (Callaway) golf bags! Is there another 200 mph GT car that can do that?”
